Dagboek 1 Spiegelportretten

Spiegelportretten van de Weekend Academie is de winnaar van de eerste Limboland Pitch dat nu in productie is. Regelmatig verschijnt er op ons blog een update van dit programma-in-de-maak.

Op een mooie zaterdag in december mochten alle 28 kinderen die op de Weekend Academie Westerpark zitten een spiegelportret op foto maken. Dat deze zij in duo’s met een ouderwetse spiegelreflexcamera maar ook met een mobiel met daarop een DVD geplakt. Zo ontdekten zij wat een spiegelportret is. 14 kinderen besloten door te gaan met de filmportretten. Maar eerst was er nog de opening van deze vijfde Weekend Academie, waar een tentoonstelling van de foto’s te zien was. Tijdens de bijeenkomst in de week voor de opening beoordeelden de kinderen hun foto’s. De kinderen waren erg druk en zenuwachtig want Prinses Maxima zou komen. De foto’s werden in de tentoonstelling gecombineerd met quotes uit teksten die zij met de Poetry Jockeys, gemaakt hadden. Deze teksten gingen over hun toekomstdromen. De opening was een groot succes.

Op 22 januari zaten 14 leerlingen vol spanning en nieuwsgierigheid te wachten op de eerste les van Martin van den Oever over het idee en de achterliggende gedachten van ‘spiegelportretten’. De leerlingen kregen te horen hoe Martin tot deze unieke methode van mensen portretteren kwam. Verder kregen ze zelfportretten te zien van de belangrijkste Hollandse meesters van de 17e eeuw Rembrandt van Rijn. De leerlingen kregen de opdracht mee om een favoriet kledingstuk, sieraad of foto mee te nemen voor de volgende dramales.
 
Deze les op 29 januari werd verzorgd door Esther de Koning, een dramaconsulent van stichting Taalvorming. Doormiddel van tweetalgesprekken en spelletjes leerden de leerlingen elkaar kennen en werd er flink geoefend aan gesprek- en presentatie technieken. Het doel van de les voor elk leerling was om tot een tekst te komen die een relatie had met het meegenomen kledingstuk, sieraad of foto. Er werden duo’s gemaakt en de leerlingen vonden het prachtig.
 
Na twee beduidende lessen was het tijd om echt aan het werk te gaan. De leerlingen hadden allemaal spulletjes mee genomen waar ze over gingen vertellen. We hadden een lokaal omgebouwd tot film lokaal waar de leerlingen per duo’s aan het werk gingen. Tijdens deze eerste filmdag mocht één leerling van de duo’s filmen en de ander voor de camera staan. Elk duo kreeg eerst een uitleg van Martin over hoe de camera werkt en waar ze op moesten letten tijdens het filmen. Hierna gingen de leerlingen aan het werk, ik was ontdaan van hoe goed de leerlingen het deden en wat voor prachtige verhalen werden verteld. Een verhaal wat ik heel mooi vond was het verhaal van een jongen over zijn traditionele Marokkaanse kledij, hij vertelde hoe het was gemaakt en wat voor speciale betekenis het had. Volgende week worden de rollen omgedraaid en dan mogen de leerlingen die dit keer gefilmd hebben hun verhaal vertellen.
